The LSU ACSA's Student Support Summit is a free virtual conference for professionals in the areas of academic and student support to share knowledge, trade ideas, and inspire ongoing discussions that can be utilized in their educational support positions. This platform allows participants to gain valuable information to help enhance their student learning techniques and programs, as well as highlight and share their wise practices. Academic support and learning support professionals are invited to take part in this unique opportunity to expand their knowledge and network with others in the field.

Many students find themselves in challenging situations following midterms but often have trouble navigating the questions they need to realistically answer. Can they improve their grade in their course? Can they even pass a course they are failing? What strategies can they do to succeed in their remaining grade opportunities? As learning center professionals, it is our responsibility to coach students to the goal line of the semester, even when that means having difficult conversations.

ICLCA* is hosting their annual conference September 23-27, 2024. The conference will be held at Little America Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.

Pre-conference sessions begin on September 23, concurrent sessions will be held September 24-26, and the Post-Conference Institute is scheduled for September 26 and 27. Those interested in attending can register on the ICLCA website.

*LCLCA is the Louisiana state affiliate organization for the International College Learning Center Association (ICLCA). 

Join us for an engaging virtual lunch and Learn, where we'll delve into effective active learning techniques to enhance academic performance. We'll explore: 

• Spaced Practice: The benefits of spreading your study sessions over time. 

• Retrieval Practice: How actively recalling information can strengthen your memory. 

• Interleaving: The power of mixing different topics and subjects during your study sessions. 

• Elaboration: Techniques to explain and describe ideas in detail to deepen your understanding. 

In addition to these strategies, we'll introduce you to The Learning Scientists website, a valuable resource for discovering more evidence-based learning techniques.
